2015/16 JA Bowl-A-Thon Raises More Than $1 Million

More than 100 DIRECTV professionals bowl for JA

It’s no surprise that the JA Bowl-A-Thon is JA-Rocky Mountain’s largest fundraiser of the year and a top team-building opportunity for corporations in Colorado. Imagine thousands of business professionals teaming up for an afternoon of fun and friendly competition to raise money to help JA provide financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurial programs to local students.

The 2015/16 Bowl-A-Thon season wrapped up in June, raising a total of $1,046,982! The ten corporate bowling teams that raised the most funds for JA in 2015/16 are:

AT&T/DIRECTV
FirstBank
Western Union
Ball Corporation
Anadarko
Prologis
SM Energy
Comcast Wholesale
Arrow Electronics
Charles Schwab

Each bowler raises money from friends, family and colleagues. The teams then come together to celebrate their hard work by bowling with their co-workers. And many companies don’t just bowl; they host bowling pin decorating competitions, employee costume contests and other fun events to help increase awareness and enthusiasm for the JA Bowl-A-Thon within their organizations. “With the support of their employers, many local professionals find it easy to participate and to help raise money to bring financial education to students across the state,” said JA Special Events Manager Justin Hazlett.

In addition to the companies that support their employee bowlers, several Colorado businesses also sponsor the event, providing in-kind donations to be used as JA Bowl-A-Thon prizes and incentives. These partner companies include AMF, Chipotle, Denver Outlaws, FirstBank, HomeAdvisor, Le Peep, Pepsi Beverages Company, Roma Restaurant, Smashburger, Southwest Airlines, Sports Shares/SuiteHop,  Suncor Energy and Waterway Carwash.

“We are incredibly grateful to our JA Bowl-A-Thon sponsors and to the approximately 4,800 individuals from close to 100 companies across the state who team up to bowl. Their spirit, enthusiasm and commitment to JA is truly amazing,” said JA President and CEO Robin Wise. “We could not do our work without them.”
