Thinking about participating in JA? Already a volunteer? Here are a few questions that might come up...
1. How much time does it take to prepare for class?
For a JA in a Day - approximately 1 ½ hours
For a traditional class (5 separate visits) - 30 min per lesson
2. What do I do if my teacher and I are having trouble getting in touch with one another?
Make sure to try both e-mail and phone
Call the school’s front office
Call your JA manager for assistance
3. Can I volunteer in my child's class?
Absolutely! If your child's teacher is not currently participating in JA, we'd be happy to work with you to make it happen.
4. Do I have to know how to teach?
No! Junior Achievement makes it easy by providing training, prepared activities and all of the classroom materials. In addition, JA provides training to all its volunteers and is available to assist you whenever necessary. You do not need teaching experience to be a JA volunteer, just the enthusiasm to try.
5. Where does JA get its funding?
Individual/Corporate Contributions: 36%
Special Events: 34%
Program Revenue: 18%
Rental/Parking Income: 5%
In Kind Donations: 4%
Other: 3%
