April 17-23 is Volunteer Recognition Week. In honor of that each day we will feature a small profile on one of Junior Achievements many wonderful volunteers. Here’s the first one.
Jenny Lane has been involved with Junior Achievement since 2000. Jenny’s enthusiasm for empowering students with financial literacy is what makes her a great volunteer. There has even been a time when the students enjoyed her excitement so much in the classroom they persuaded her to go outside and play during recess. Jenny loves meeting new students and working with them on something new, outside of their normal, everyday classroom knowledge. “Seeing the smiles on their faces when I am teaching, and getting hugs at their graduation,” says Jenny, is what keeps her excited about volunteering.
Being that it is her tenth year as a volunteer, Jenny still brings motivation and cheerful energy into the classroom on each visit. Knowing that she is helping reach various students and getting to share valuable information is what brings her back every time.
