Volunteer Profile: Jose Amaya

Jose Amaya of JE Dunn began his involvement with Junior Achievement 17 years ago in Kansas City, MO.  He saw it as a way to give back to his community.  Jose has since continued to volunteer with Junior Achievement-Rocky Mountain, Inc. focusing on the Hispanic Initiative.

This JA Hispanic Initiative was launched in 2006 to reach Title 1 schools with more than 51% Hispanic student population.  This initiative seeks Hispanic volunteers to teach JA and serve as role models in the classroom with goals of increasing high school graduation rates, encourage higher education, and inspire a work readiness and financial literacy.  In 2011/12, the Hispanic Initiative was supported by the KeyBank Foundation, MillerCoors, and Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Jose has a passion to inspire Hispanic students to become the future leaders of our city, state, and country.  “The biggest advice I give my students is that if they work hard, stay in school and keep out of trouble they can accomplished all of their dreams and become successful leaders in our community,” said Jose.

Jose works as Director of Business Development and Small Business Programs at JE Dunn and has also become a JA company coordinator at JE Dunn in which he has lead and coordinated the volunteers at the JA in a Day at Skyview Elementary in Thornton.  This will be the 3rd straight year that JE Dunn has adopted Skyview for a JA in a Day.  Thank you to Jose for being a longtime JA volunteer and inspiring students in the Hispanic community!
