Classroom Programs
Regular school hours during the school year
Use JA’s hands on materials to deliver in-classroom activities to a group of students ranging from Kindergarten through high school. There are two formats for delivering these programs:
Traditional Volunteering: After being matched with a classroom (in a location and program of your choosing), you will then schedule your weekly visits directly with the teacher.
Elementary Programs – 5 visits of 30-45 minutes each
Middle School Programs – 6 visits of 45-60 minutes each
High School Programs – 7 to 12 visits of 45-60 minutes each
With hundreds of participating schools throughout Metro Denver, Northern Colorado and Southern Wyoming, you’re sure to find a location that’s convenient for you. Click here to view a current list of classroom volunteer needs.
JA in a Day: This format allows a group of volunteers to adopt an entire school (or part of a school) for a day! Volunteers teach the same programs as in the Traditional format, only all in one day. This is a wonderful way to join together and inspire a large amount of students in a short amount of time. This format is implemented at the elementary and middle school level. JA Business Week
June 9 to 15, 2013
Volunteers are an integral part of this amazing week long program. There are two different volunteer needs:
Company Advisors mentor 10-12 JA Business Week student participants throughout a week long summer camp as they work together on an “Apprentice”-style project. You will guide students with prepared lesson plans, oversee student activities, work with the students on leadership and teambuilding activities, and discuss career options and goals. Company Advisors are a full week long commitment.
Workshop Volunteers are also needed throughout the week to present workshops on business topics such as ethics, interviewing skills, presentation skills, and more. These are one time commitments, typically three hours long.
Teacher Appreciation Week is May 6 to 10, 2013. Junior Achievement would like to thank all of the wonderful teachers who welcome JA volunteers into their classrooms. We appreciate you!
