Walmart Foundation Grant Helps Prepare and Inspiring Wyoming Students

Junior Achievement (JA) received a $25,000 contribution to assist with providing JA’s proven programs to middle and high school students in Wyoming schools. The grant – which was given to the nonprofit organization through the Walmart Foundation’s State Giving Program – supports JA classroom programs that focus on financial literacy, entrepreneurship and work readiness.

“This grant will allow JA to reach students at a pivotal moment in their lives when critical opinions are being formed regarding the importance education plays in their lives and attitudes toward seeing the relevance in attaining a high school diploma,” said Joy Nyenhuis, district director for Junior Achievement-Rocky Mountain, Inc. “Thanks to supporters like the Walmart Foundation, JA is able to offer vital programs at no cost to Wyoming schools.”

JA’s programs are independently tested and proven to make a significant impact. To date, JA’s programs result in an approximate 25% knowledge gain on topics such as global competition, business ethics, and needs and wants.

The contribution to JA was made possible through the Walmart Foundation’s Wyoming State Giving Program. Through this program, the Walmart Foundation supports organizations that create opportunities so people can live better. The Walmart Foundation State Giving Program strives to award grants that have a long-lasting, positive impact on communities across the U.S.

To be considered for support, perspective grantee organizations must submit applications through the Walmart Foundation State Giving Program’s online grant application.  Applicants must have a current 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status in order to meet the program’s minimum eligibility criteria.  Additional information about the program’s funding guidelines and application process are available online at www.walmartfoundation.org/stategiving. The deadline for the next round of grants is August 9.
