JA celebrates Shawn Barker: DBJ Corporate Citizen of the Year

Junior Achievement-Rocky Mountain (JA) Board Member Shawn Barker is one of five Denver-area executives recognized by the Denver Business Journal (DBJ) in November as a Corporate Citizen of the Year.

Anyone who knows Shawn knows exactly why he was honored.  He is an unassuming, committed and inspiring community leader. As vice president and controller for Ball Corporation, Shawn has helped Ball Corporation further its mission of “doing well and doing good.”  Shawn leads the company’s partnership with JA and has contributed a great deal of time and talent to the organization through classroom volunteerism and his role on the executive and finance committees. He lends tremendous energy, ideas and passion to JA and the students we serve.  And Shawn’s community involvement doesn’t stop there. He is a founding member of Access Opportunity, a nonprofit organization that invests in high-potential, low-income students. He also supports a number of other organizations such as Denver CASA, Boys Scouts of America, Urban Peak, the Denver Zoo, the Dumb Friends League and the American Heart Association.

Congratulations Shawn on being selected as a DBJ Corporate Citizen of the Year!
