A Strong Return for the JA Stock Market Challenge

SM Energy's Wade Pursell ringing the bell at the JA Stock Market Challenge

When JA high school students learn the ins and outs of the global economy, they don’t sit idly in a classroom. They compete in an exciting, realistic simulation of the floor of the New York Stock Exchange, trading and cheering throughout the high-energy game with teammates from their schools. The JA Stock Market Challenge returned to Denver and Fort Collins for the first time since fall of 2019, powered not only by the program’s advanced technology, but also by the enthusiasm of local JA volunteers and the generosity of corporate partners. 1,000 students participated in Denver’s JA Stock Market Challenge student events, which were sponsored by SM Energy and McKinsey & Company, and an additional 400 participated in Fort Collins.

“I loved how realistic the game was,” said a student from Green Mountain High School in Lakewood. “I wish we had more time to play longer!”

The JA Stock Market Challenge and accompanying classroom curriculum was provided at no cost to schools. The program and events were made possible by individual donors and corporate contributions made at the JA Stock Market Challenge corporate fundraising event.
