The Metro Denver JA Stock Market Challenge, presented by Charles Schwab, will be held March 7 and 8 at Charles Schwab Campus in Lone Tree, CO. For information about the Metro Denver event, contact Leah Caputo at LCaputo@JAColorado.org.
The JA Stock Market Challenge is a live stock market simulation game, featuring teams of high school students who compete to see who can grow their initial $500,000 investment into the largest net worth “mock” stock portfolio. The challenge offers a taste of what it’s like to build a portfolio, manage risk, and experience its performance in a compressed period of time.
To prepare for the competition, students participate in two 45-minute classroom lessons about individual equities, the impact of the economy, geopolitical events, and market sentiment, all against the backdrop of competing with their peers. JA Take Stock in Your Future program introduces students to the stock market. By the end of the two sessions, students will understand the fundamentals of the stock market and appreciate the risks and rewards of trading.
