Teams Test Their Investing Mettle

The energy of 1,200 students from 40 Colorado high schools nearly blew the roof off the DU Cable Center during the 2012 JA Stock Market Challenge, presented by The Allstate Foundation last week. Students got some hands on experience with investment strategies, carefully playing the game in order to win. To achieve success, they applied the knowledge they learned from 37 JA volunteers who taught JA Take Stock in Your Future in their classes before the event.

Final Standings:

1st Place     Littleton High School Team 3             Net Worth: $2,432,586       Growth: 387%

2nd Place     Rock Canyon High School Team 1      Net Worth:  $1,789,820      Growth: 258%

3rd Place     Englewood High School Team 2          Net Worth:  $1,830,100      Growth: 266%

The corporate event raised more than $205,000 and engaged more than 400 adults in competing for the highest net worth and highest portfolio growth. In the end, Accenture took home the trophy for highest net worth ending with a portfolio worth more than $10 million. The Charles Schwab Acquisition Delivery team was recognized for their 838% rate of growth.

Thank you to everyone who participated and volunteered! Mark your calendars for the 2013 JA Stock Market Challenge on November 7 and 8.
