JA Business Week Project Descriptions

At JA Business Week, students work in teams of 10 to form student companies.  Under the leadership of a company adviser,  teams compete in one of three challenges for real companies. Each of the companies is excited to work with students for their project since the target audience for the events/products is one from teens’ generation!

Jamba Juice Challenge
Students will develop a new smoothie flavor for the Jamba Juice Kids Meal. Groups will compete with this hands-on project to create a new flavor to be sold at area Jamba Juice locations during the month of September 2013 in Jamba Juice’s “back to school” promotion. Students will create a marketing plan for the new smoothie and design the special kids’ cup sleeve.

Denver Cutthroats Hockey Challenge
In this project, students will have the opportunity to plan the event for the Denver Cutthroats’ Hockey Day. Students will create a playbook to include all logistics for the community-focused hockey day to take place at the start of the 2013/14 season. The students will create the final event-day schedule and plan for entertainment, food, and more.

Microsoft Store Midnight Launch Challenge
Students will market and plan for the midnight launch party of a new Xbox game for the Microsoft Store at Park Meadows Mall. Because the budget for the party is driven by game pre-order sales, students will create a marketing plan to increase sales. They will also plan the evening entertainment, food, and a game tournament for the launch party.
